from the meeting.
LEITH, N.D. — Before a white supremacist invasion put the small town of Leith on the map, its friendliness did.
On Saturday, the town celebrated getting its friendly self back with a small parade, old-time foods like kuchen and fleischkuechle and friends gathering to laugh and visit in the shade of old buildings on main street.
A man who for two months turned a town upside down, ridiculed and threatened its citizens and preached hatred against blacks and Jews was freed from jail Tuesday, and no one was there to cheer his release.
Craig Cobb, 62, who’d been jailed since November on charges of terrorizing Leith residents after planning to turn Leith into a neo-Nazi settlement, was released on a plea agreement that reduced all but one of the felony charges to misdemeanors, with time served and four years’ probation.
The girlfriend of a white supremacist living in Underwood is going to court for a third restraining order after two earlier ones were thrown out, this time to prevent a woman from coming near her residence, place of employment and the Underwood school.

I can now officially say I have been to Leith, North Dakota.
At the request of some in Grant County (where Leith is found), News and Views hit the road.
If you haven’t heard, Craig Cobb has started buying up land and inviting fellow white extremists to join him in Leith for an all-white conclave.
The sheriff said because it's the weekend it could take time for the paperwork, but he's assembling evidence for three separate charges of terrorizing against Cobb, 62, and Dutton, 29.
Dutton is already on bond for a charge of disorderly conduct for drunken behavior in Leith and further charges could violate his bond conditions.
The two men are neo-Nazis and moved in take over Leith's government, posting new signs with ugly racial slurs and flying swastika flags on Cobb's property in town.
Their use of guns with Leith residents raises three months of tension to its highest level yet, and Grant County Sheriff Steve Bay said residents should feel at ease at least for now that the men are in custody at the Mercer County jail in Stanton.
LEITH, N.D. - Craig Cobb and Kynan Dutton were taken to jail in handcuffs Saturday afternoon, after Leith citizens called 911 for help because the two men were confronting them with guns in a threatening and intimidating manner.
